charls asked:
At work, we serve these salads, some with meat and some not. But after every meal that i serve, i just feel guilty for throwing them away and not composting. So i thought i would start a compost. Is it bad to compost something with oil or meat? What are the other foods you can not compost?

well with letace and the natural foods grown from the soil, they will be broken down by the environment, and the meat products will but that will leave you with a horrible smell, and will also take a much longer time, and the oils wont really be broken down, cause oil is just a major pain

The only food that you should not compost is “raw” meat, fish and poultry.

Put only organic materiel in the compost. Do not put anything like meat, grease, as it will kill the natural bacteria in the compost

you can,t compost meat or oil or fat or onion, orange, lemon, lime rind, and bread isn’t good either. you can compost most other organic things. Egg shells are ok too. Paper is ok too (not shiny magazine paper though) although with paper you should tear it up

You can compost anything except onions and garlic. Avoid throwing into it plastic bags. Be good also to wrap the meat or fish in newspaper before throwing them with the rest of your compost. Happy gardening.

You can never compost any meat nor salads that contain meat or oil.
You can compost all fruits and veggies, the parts you cut off, or
what has nothing on them like butter, mayo, etc. You are suppose to compost grass clippings, garden waste, and greens such as fruit and
veggies without anything on it. Then there is leaves, straw, and all
things grown on this earth, but in their natural form only.
(without having any additives or oils)

The only thing that you should not compost it meat. A lot of other things could break down, and if you keep turning it when you put things into it to keep it decomposing.
